The Hill Country Mountain Toppers Association (HCMTA) will be operating amateur radio stations near Fredericksburg in the world-wide annual ARRL Field Day event at Middle Creek Ranch the weekend of June 25. They will set up and operate emergency communications equipment, including solar powered transmitters and receivers, portable antennas, and attempt to make as many contacts as possible with other radio operators around the world.
The primary objectives are to hone skills to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness as well as to acquaint the general public with the capabilities of Amateur Radio.
